DMA West and DMA West Foundation Honor Brad Burlingame
In late January, the DMA West Board of Directors voted to rename the Association’s signature award as the “Brad Burlingame Spirit of Leadership Award.” Burlingame brought the award initiative to the Association Board in 2002. He was honored in September 2013 as only the sixth recipient of this award since its inception. The award recognizes extraordinary contributions to the Association by individuals.
To commemorate Burlingame’s passion for bringing young people into the DMO profession, the DMA West Education & Research Foundation plans to expand the Foundation’s existing array of scholarship programs with a new program. The new scholarship program will provide an introduction to the DMO profession through attendance scholarships at the Association’s annual fall conference. The Foundation plans to partner with local colleges/universities at the site of each future annual DMA West Education Summit to provide conference-attendance scholarships for five students. The conference-attendance scholarships for college/university students will begin with the September 2016 conference in Mesa, Arizona.
